The why
Lurking in a cupboard was a small Fleischmann narrow gauge Deutz diesel, it needed bringing to life and I want a left-field project that isn't mainline nor HO.
The wherefore
The first choice was Nassauische Kleinbahn centered at Baubach, it was 1000mm gauge line that served a smelting plant, not ideal as the remaining locos were HF 130 C unlike the much smaller Deutz.
Then there is Kalkar, a 750mm gravel system with very similar Deutz locos moreover the system's little 'Rugga' side-tippers were available from Bachmann as ready to run.
The concept
With just 1200x400mm, anything more than a diorama was out of the question, therefore a couple of siding where the diesel refuelled and maintenance was carried out seemed appropriate.
That is it......
I cannot
over emphasise the usefulness of this issue of Model Rail Aug '17,
packed with practical ideas and 'how to do it' articles about the
construction of a well detailed layout.
